News Release MPC Opposes Farm Bill Conference Report; Supports Presidential Veto CHINO, CA - Yesterday, MPC sent this letter to Senators Barbara Boxer and Dianne Feinstein stating our strong opposition to the Farm Bill Conference Report. UPDATE - Unfortunately, the Farm Bill now been approved by both the House and Senate with "veto-proof" margins. The vote in the House was 318 - 106 and the vote in the Senate was 81 - 15. (While President George W. Bush has indicated in the past that he will veto this bill, only 290 votes are needed to override that veto in the House and 67 votes are needed in the Senate - well below the amount of "yes" votes already cast.)
News Release MPC Urges Local Legislators to Remove Ethanol Mandate CHINO, CA – Yesterday, Milk Producers Council (MPC) sent the attached letter to eight U.S. Congressmen that represent dairies in Southern and Central California, as well as Senators Dianne Feinstein and Barbara Boxer. The letter addresses the dairy industry’s strong support for removing the mandated usage of ethanol, which has forced nearly a quarter of our domestic corn supply into fuel production this year, rather than for food or feed.
